Belize Fly Fishing Trip

Join D&H for an amazing saltwater adventure to Belize, Central America. We will be staying at the renowned El Pescador Lodge and fishing the beautiful Caribbean waters. Ted Nicholson, D&H store manager, will be hosting this trip. Belize is incredible easy to get to (a 2 hour flight from Atlanta), an English speaking country, amazingly affordable, and the fishing is fantastic! Join Ted on this fantastic saltwater adventure.

The waters in and around Belize are home to massive schools of bonefish, resident and migratory tarpon, and big permit. In addition, there are good numbers of barracuda, snapper, jacks, snook, and other species. We are targeting the big three…Tarpon, Bonefish, and Permit.
Based upon your fishing style and experience, you will be assigned one primary guide for the week. All of the guides are local, speak fluent English, and most have been guiding for El Pescador for more than a decade. Many are related so it is fun to see them compete! The guide is matched to you based upon a survey you fill out well before arriving at the lodge. This is a unique and very beneficial practice that we have only seen at El Pescador. Every evening the lodge manager will speak to you about your day and make sure you and your guide are a great match.

A typical day starts at 6am and your guide will pick you up in his flats style boat right and take you to the waters you had specified the evening before (depends upon what you want to catch). A typical day involves you and your fishing partner taking turns at the front of the boat casting over schools of bonefish, tarpon and permit. You do not have to be an expert caster, especially for the bonefish. There are plenty of shots at 30-50 feet with hundreds of bonefish in schools.

You will fish until 2PM. Your guide will bring you back to the resort with plenty of time to enjoy the afternoon. You can relax poolside, rest in a hammock over the ocean, play a game of pool, enjoy a drink at the bar, or plan other adventures like flats fishing in front of the lodge, taking a free casting lesson from certified instructors, kayaking, scuba diving, getting a massage, or snorkeling. There is no shortage of great things to do!

El Pescador has two options for lodging. There is a main lodge and individual villas. Both sit beach-front and look out over the barrier reef that surrounds Belize. Our trip includes staying in the main lodge but you have the option to upgrade to a villa if you would like. You can talk to Ted about that option and pricing.
The cost of the trip is based on double-occupancy accommodations and two fisherman per boat. If you book as an individual, you would be paired with another person for accommodations and fishing.

The food is fantastic. All meals are done family style with dinners including items like steak, shrimp, lobster tails, fresh fish, etc. All meals, drinks and appetizers are included in the price of the trip.

Ted will host a saltwater school before the trip at no cost to anglers going on this adventure. He will prepare you for the experience so when you are onsite, it’s all about the fishing and relaxing!
